Arsenal sweat on Welbeck injury but good news for Walcott and Gibbs

There is not a lot of news coming out about the injury picked up by the Arsenal and England forward Danny Welbeck last night, other than that the 24-year old tweaked his knee in a challenge with the Lithuania keeper late on in the game.

It is especially frustrating for Arsene Wenger as Roy Hodgson admitted that he was already planning to replace the Arsenal striker at that point and the game was done and dusted by then, with Welbeck´s goal and assist a big reason for that.

Now the Gunners have to wait anxiously to discover just how bad the injury is but he certainly will not be playing for England in Italy on Tuesday. When one door shuts, however, another one opens and it looks highly likely that two more of our stars, Theo Walcott and Kieran Gibbs, have a great chance of starting for England next week.

England also released left back Leighton Baines and Liverpool forward Raheem Sterling, leaving space in the first team for the Arsenal duo who will be very keen to add to their international caps and try to prove to Hodgson that they should be in the starting line up all the time.

Theo definitely needs the game time and match sharpness and it could be very useful for Arsenal if Welbeck is to miss any domestic action. And Gibbs, in my opinion, should already be first choice going on form and the fact that Baines has never repeated his club form for his country.

Welbeck´s knock is a concern but Arsenal have enough attacking options to cope don´t we?
