Can this young hitman fix Arsenal’s striker problem?

In last summer’s transfer window, Arsenal Wenger assured all of us Arsenal fans that the club did not have a striker problem, and Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott, Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck were all world class and had more than enough firepower to win the League title.

This has proven to be patently wrong and, if Wenger stays, he will have no excuse whatsoever not to bring in a new arrival to try and fix our seasons-long striker problem. So it is great news that the Gunners have been making enquiries about the highly talented Umar Sadiq, who plays for Italian side Spezia but is presently on loan at Serie A giants Roma.

“Yes we have been approached by Arsenal,’ said Sadiq’s agent Mohammed Lawalb. ‘But they are not the only team interested in Sadiq as Borrussia Dortmund are also pushing for him.

‘In the coming days or weeks we will know where he is heading to, but for now he is very happy and focused at Roma.’

Although only 19 years of age, the 19 is already a massive 6ft 6in tall, and is scoring goals for fun in the Roma youth team, and has scored twice in just six senior games. He looks like he has got a very promising career ahead of him, but it must be asked if someone of that age will be able to come straight in and lead the line for Arsenal in the Premiership.

It may be the best we can hope for as there is no way Wenger will go out and spend 50m on a proven hitman to solve our striker problem, is there?
