Manchester United are claimed to be ready to launch a bid to sign Thomas Lemar this winter, forcing Arsenal’s hand.
The Gunners failed with a £92 Million move to bring the French international to the Emirates on deadline day, and manager Arsene Wenger has already admitted that he will return for him in the future.
Arsenal’s offer was accepted on August 31, only for the player to change his mind over the move, and decided he wished to stay with Monaco for the time being.
The decision to stay came as a shock for many, who after seeing a mass exodus of key players during the summer believed that there would be little to keep a player of his calibre at the club, and the player himself was widely reported to be keen on moving to North London also.
It has since been admitted that Thomas did favour a move during the close-season, but was persuaded on deadline day that he had an important role to play for Monaco, and he agreed to stay.
Arsenal may now struggle to tempt the 21 year-old to come to the club, with rumours emerging that Manchester United are set to launch their own £92 Million bid to sign him come January.
The Red Devils haven’t been shy in splashing the cash on a number of players in recent years, and we may well have a huge uphill struggle to land Lemar now after leaving it too late in the window to match Monaco’s asking price.
