Arsenal to bid £65 million for top class Chelsea target?

After Arsenal reached the final of the FA Cup with a victory over Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at the Emirates, there is some fascinating transfer gossip that has emerged in regards to the Gunners. According to a report from the Daily Star, Arsenal are preparing a £65 million bid for the Everton striker Romelu Lukaku as the club prepares a massive summer overhaul ahead of next season.

The report further claims that the North London club will go through with the move irrespective of what happens in regards to the Alexis Sanchez transfer saga. The Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is said to be aware of the necessity of a prolific striker at the Emirates and has apparently identified the Belgian international as the perfect fit to lead the Arsenal attack next season, and it is easy to see why.

Lukaku has once again been in red-hot form for the Merseyside club and has soared to the top of the goal-scoring charts, notching up as many as 24 Premier League goals with none of them being penalties. With the Belgian international refusing to sign on fresh terms at Goodison Park, it will be interesting to see whether Arsenal can take advantage of the situation and lure the player to the Emirates.

In my opinion, Romelu Lukaku would be a perfect signing for Arsenal. The player is blessed with brute power and blistering pace to go with lethal finishing skills and a knack of being at the right place at the right time and most importantly, he is proven in the Premier League. Considering that he is still only 23, the former Chelsea man is only going to get better and any potential purchase would be a sound investment not just in the present, but also in the future.

In addition, I believe Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are both waiting to see if Wenger brings in top-quality reinforcements in the summer before they make their decision in regards to a new contract, so the potential capture of the Belgian will serve as a statement of intent to our star duo as well. But with Chelsea also believed to be in the race to sign the prolific striker, Le Prof better move fast if he is serious of landing his man.
