Arsenal to increase security at the Emirates

I imagine that the people of Europe are going to have to get used to the fact of increased security at airports, stations and any big public events, and going to an Arsenal match is going to be no exception.

The club have liased with the police and are stepping up the security prescence in and around the ground, as will every other football ground I imagine. They have released this announcement for anyone going to the ground from Tuesday: Supporters attending Tuesday’s Champions League match against Dinamo Zagreb are advised to arrive early due to additional safety measures being implemented following the tragic events in Paris.

The club has been working closely with the Metropolitan Police and the relevant authorities to enhance the existing comprehensive safety measures in and around Emirates Stadium.

There will be an increased security presence on the podium area around the stadium and the walkways leading up to the entrances of the stadium. This will include additional searches of individuals outside and at the turnstiles. Supporters are asked not to bring bags to Emirates Stadium unless absolutely necessary.

These measures will be in place for the foreseeable future. We ask for your patience and understanding and thank you in advance for your co-operation.

It is a sad state of affairs that a few terrorist scumbags can make us feel uncomfortable in crowded places, but we an only hope these measures help to stop any atrocities occurring in our own backyards.

Be vigilant!
