Arsenal to play 3 hi-profile games in the USA this summer

Three dates have been announced for the International Champions Cup to be held in the USA in July with games lined up against Bayern Munich, Roma and Real Madrid. The games are spread across the country over a six-day period….

Date: 17th July
Opponent: Bayern Munich
Location: Los Angeles
Stadium: Dignity Health Sports Park (27,000 capacity)

27,000 capacity seems a bit low for this one against the German giants, at least it will be guaranteed to be a sell-out.

Date: July 20th
Opponent: AS Roma
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Stadium: Bank of America Stadium (75,000 capacity)

Is there a big Italian American population in North Carolina? No idea, to be honest, it does seem a strange location for this one, though I would not be surprised if it is sold out regardless.

Date: July 23rd
Opponent: Real Madrid
Location: Washington DC
Stadium: FedExField (82,000 capacity)

This one will be a sell out I am sure, it is Real Madrid and they sell out everywhere and they are playing us, one of the best-supported teams on the planet.

The last couple of seasons we have done Asia (including Australia) and you have to go back to 2016 for our last visit to the States when we played Lens, MLS all-stars, and Guadalajara, winning against the latter two and drawing with Lens and only the game against the MLS all-stars was sold out and that was just 18.000.

At least these three games in July are against higher profile sides and so should be well attended and I reckon fairly competitive.

At the very least, it will be a great six days for any fans following the team to the states.
