Arsenal to play Wilshere after transfer deadline day admission?

Arsenal fans have not been told the reason for the transfer deadline day move of our England international star Jack Wilshere to the Turkish club Trabzonspor falling through, and it may even be that the transfer was not as close as the president of the Turkish club believes.

Muharrem Usta has, however, admitted that they wanted Wilshere on loan and held talks with the player himself before the deal collapsed at the end of the summer transfer window, as reported by the Evening Standard today.

The Trabzonspor chief said, “I held direct talks with Jack Wilshere.

“We wanted him on loan and were close to a deal but the move stalled at the last moment.”

So if you believe him, it sounds like the plug was pulled at this end, perhaps by the 25-year old midfielder and perhaps by Arsene Wenger or a combination of the two. Maybe the boss was worried after seeing his midfield stars like Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey struggle at the start of the season or maybe he was impressed enough with Wilshere in training and playing for the under 23 gunners to think he could still be useful to us.

This week may give Jack the chance to prove just that as the German Bundesliga club FC Cologne come to north London and Wenger has a huge Premier League game against Chelsea on Sunday to think about. Can Wilshere show that the deadline day decision was the right one?
