You cannot help but feel sorry for the Arsenal and England international midfield star Jack Wilshere, unless of course you are one of those Tottenham supporting spuds from down the road, or perhaps Jordan Henderson who would probably be the player to miss out if Wilshere had not had to pull out of the latest two England friendly games with a minor injury problem.
The good news from an Arsenal point of view is that Jack will be able to play for the Gunners this weekend, and if I was anyone connected with out opponents Stoke City I would be very worried. We all know that Wilshere’s career at both club level and on the international stage has been devastated by a number of long injury lay-offs and a lot of us thought we may never see him play for Arsenal again after he was sent to Bournemouth on loan and then had his leg broken.
Thankfully the Gunners have got him back, with 31 appearances already this season, and hopefully the rest of his career can carry on without the problems that have dogged him previously. I am sure the player is happy with how many games he has been able to play for Arsenal, if not the course that our season has taken, but he must also have been gutted to have missed out on at least another England cap over the last two weeks.
With the World Cup in Russia coming up this summer Jack would have loved to be able to show Gareth Southgate what he can do for the three lions and start to book his place on the plane, but it was not to be. However, there is still time and Wilshere will bwe keen to waste none of it by producing the sort of performances that will ensure he does get back into the England frame on a regular basis. That could spell big trouble for any team that he plays against, so let’s hope this latest England setback has fired our boy up. Go get em Jack…
