Arsenal told to forget transfer bid for EPL star

Arsenal are one of a few Premier League clubs that have been increasingly linked with a transfer bid for the Leicester City and Algeria international star Riyad Mahrez when the winter transfer window is open next month, along with Man United and Tottenham. But if Arsene Wenger was planning on making a move, it seems that he would be wasting his precious time.

The 24-year old and his team mate Jamie Vardy have really set the division alight this season and they show no signs of easing up as both scored again as they beat the reigning EPL champions Chelsea on Monday to go back above the Gunners into top spot.

While most people in football do not expect it to last until the end of the season, perhaps the manager and players of Leicester do and Mahrez is ready to snub any January transfer moves to stay with his current club and do his best to keep proving people wrong, as a Daily Mail report explains.

He told a French radio station, “It’s best for me to stay until the end of the season.

“I was at Le Havre, I had six months left but nobody came to get me. Leicester tried very hard to get me.

“I could feel that they wanted me. I took the decision without knowing the culture or the area. It was a risk.

“When you come from far away and you end up in the Premier League it makes you happy. I am happy that I signed for Leicester.”

I do think that Mahrez would be a great signing for Arsenal and that his pace, vision and technical ability would fit really well with the likes of Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Santi Cazorla but if Wenger agrees, it looks like he will have to wait until the end of the season to do anything about it.
