Christmas is right around the corner now which means so is the winter transfer window. Whether we believe Arsenal will be adding to the team or not, there will certainly be a number of rumours going around.
Arsenal are supposedly keeping tabs on Stefan de Vrij of Lazio, but Manchester United are claimed to be ready to splash their cash on him. If Wenger believes that he needs a little more bolstering at the back (which I’m sure he won’t unless we have some big losses to injury), then we may well be keen on reigniting our interest in the Dutch defender.
One player who I’m quite excited to be linked with is Monaco’s 17 year-old future star Kylian Mbappe. The striker took Arsenal legend Thierry Henry’s record of being his current club’s youngest ever goalscorer in February, and has since added two more Ligue 1 goals. Mbappe can also boast at having fired his French Under-19 side to win the European Championship with seven goals, two of which came in the final. I would imagine that if a deal was to be put in place, I imagine it would see the youngster agree to join come the end of the season however.
Mario Balotelli is a joke of a link, with the Italian having mentioned our club once, and they have run with it. He simply said that he liked our club, whilst ruling out any possible return to Liverpool FC. I don’t expect he will ever get the chance to play for a top team in England ever again, so we’ll just move on…
Another joke is the speculation regarding Alexis Sanchez’s possible move to Chelsea. The Chilean is an integral part of our team, and while Arsene Wenger has refused to rule out his or Mesut Ozil’s possible exits, there is no need to talk about such a move. Chelsea have obviously not made any attempt to contact us about a switch, nor would they have contacted the player. Conte has refused to talk about our star, and rightly so.
