Arsenal v Chelsea League Cup Semi – There must be a winner this time!

Arsenal and Chelsea face each other in the second semi-final of the Caraboa Cup on Wednesday and I am looking forward to finally getting a definite result between the two sides after a succession of draws since the Gunners beat Antonio Conte’s side in the FA Cup Final last season.

First we drew 1-1 in the Community Shield, but Arsenal nicked it on penalties. Then we put in one of our best away performances of the season to hold Chelsea to 0-0 at the Bridge, then we nicked another point in the home game when Bellerin smashed in an equalizer in the last minute at the Emirates. The first leg of this semi-final also ended in a 0-0 stalemate (in our first away game in this year’s competition) and now we will finally get a result on Wednesday whether it is in extra time or penalties yet again.

This is how Arsenal reserves got to this stage of the Caraboa Cup…

Chelsea also got this far by getting home ties up until now and this will be their first away match this season…

The Blues beat Nottm Forest easily (remember Forest!) and then had two EPL sides in Everton and Bournemouth, who embarrassed us last week, so it is our turn to embarrass Chelsea this time around.

The good news is that Arsene Wenger can put out a full first team if he wants to, as we don’t have to play again until next Tuesday, when we are away at Swansea, whereas Chelsea have Newcastle on Sunday lunchtime. Will that give us the advantage in this finely balanced match?
