Arsenal v Liverpool review – 4 star Gunners keep title hopes alive!

After a great start from Arsenal when we pressed Liverpool high and forced them into mistakes, while our slick passing kept opening them up, Mignolet had to make two world class saves from Cazorla and Ramsey to keep the visitors level. But we didn’t make the most of our dominance and then began to drop the tempo as Liverpool came storming back and should really have scored a couple of goals themselves.

Thankfully for the Gunners, Markovic inexplicably overhit an easy pass for Sterling to tap in to our goal and then, when Henderson had been left free in the box, the cross to him was also too hard. But it was looking worrying and just when the fingernails were getting some stick, Bellerin popped up with a beauty in the 37th minute.

The excellent Ozil hit a peach of a pass from the centre circle to find Ramsey wide right. The Welshman fed Bellerin inside and the Spaniard danced past the defence and curled a great left footed goal into the corner. And the game was all but over by halftime as Arsenal turned the screw.

Ozil hit a brilliant free kick in the 40th minute and Ramsey claimed a second assist when Alexis smashed a third past the dumbfounded Mignolet who did not seem to see it. It was clinical stuff from the Gunners.

The second half was not so good from the Gunners, as we took our foot off the gas a bit. We also lost Koscielny with what seemed to be a tweaked hamstring in the 49th minute and then Ramsey took a knock as well. THey were replaced by Gabriel and Flamini as Arsenal tried to close the game out and did that pretty well until Bellerin fouled Sterling in the box and Henderson just squeezed his spot kick past Ospina.

But their comeback did not happen and they lost Emre Can to a second yellow. Arsenal then added a fourth with a superb strike from Giroud in stoppage time. That is six league games in a row for the fantastic Frenchman. Now Arsenal want some slip ups from Chelsea, Man City and Man United!!

Onwards and Upwards!
