Arsenal veteran definitely NOT leaving!

Just days after the Arsenal star Tomas Rosicky hinted towards a move away from the club this summer, it has been confirmed that the Czech Republic international will remain at the Emirates for at least another season. The Daily Star and various other sources in the English media are reporting that Arsenal have activated an option to extend his contract after Gunners’ boss Arsene Wenger successfully persuaded him to stay, with the imminent arrival of Petr Cech said to be a crucial factor.

Following a campaign that Tomas himself labelled as ‘very difficult’ as a result of very limited first-team opportunities, there was a lot of talks in regards to the future of the veteran midfielder, especially after his boyhood club Sparta Prague made no secret of their desire to take him back home, with the club’s fans’ association also raising money to fund a move. But despite all that, Rosicky seems to have made up his mind to remain at Arsenal and can now look forward to a testimonial.

From Arsenal.com
on if Rosicky will play a part in any Cech deal…
“Tomas Rosicky is not involved in the transfer market at all, he will be with us next season and we do not use the players for that.”
on certain players attracting players of same nationality…
“No, most of the time it is the players who want to join you who come in. Sometimes they might call each other but we do not get the players to interfere with that.”
on whether Rosicky will extend his own deal…
“Yes”

As one of the Little Mozart’s biggest fans, I am truly elated with the news. I believe he still has a good few years of football ahead of him and can still contribute so much to the team, so Wenger has definitely made the right call in giving him an extension. Also, with Arsenal having so many promising attacking midfielders coming through the ranks, Tomas can be a perfect mentor to the vast talent that Arsenal have in his position.

However, I really hope Wenger can make proper use of his talents next season. There were so many games this season where I thought Tomas can definitely stamp his authority and change the game for us. Let’s face it, when the team needs incisiveness and urgency in the final-third, there is no Arsenal player who can bring that quite like the Little Mozart can.

After what is shortly to be a decade at the club, it is very disappointing to realise that Tomas is yet to win the Premier League trophy with Arsenal. But with the team making significant progress this campaign and Wenger promising to spend, let’s hope Super Tom will finally get a Premier League winners’ medal next May.
