Arsenal WILL NOT let Debuchy leave in January

When Mathieu Debuchy moved to Arsenal last summer, he came in as a long-term replacement for Bacary Sagna. But after a couple of serious injuries and the emergence of young Hector Bellerin, the former Newcastle star has been reduced to a bit-part role at the Emirates and is understood to be frustrated with his lack of game-time.

According to the latest Arsenal rumours, the French defender is already in talks with Serie A side AS Roma in regards to a move to the Italian capital once the transfer window opens in January. Debuchy has already spoken about the possibility of leaving Arsenal in the new year as he intends on making the France squad for Euro 2016.

Now although the news of Debuchy wanting to leave is fairly credible as he hardly plays and wants to go to the Euros, I really don’t think talks have been held in regards to a move. Besides, Wenger will certainly not allow a versatile defender who can also play in central defence to leave half-way through the season, especially ahead of a potential push for the Premier League title.

But at 30 years of age, Debuchy needs to be playing regular football and will most likely ask for a transfer in the summer. With Carl Jenkinson not having a very successful loan spell at Upton Park, Arsene Wenger may need to look for a new right-back to come in and compete with Bellerin. But with respect to the January transfer window, Arsenal fans can be rest assured that Mathieu Debuchy will be staying at the Emirates.
