With Arsenal having made a sluggish start to the Premier League season and already being five points off the pace set by the league leaders Man City, we simply cannot afford to drop any more points in this weekend’s away game with Hull City.
And even though the Tigers have started well themselves and are in front of their own fans, I think we can expect a solid and defensive display for them as they are likely to see a point as a decent result against Arsenal. This will mean that the onus will be on the Gunners to break them down but it looks like Arsene Wenger may have a problem on that front.
Theo Walcott looks to be unavailable again after missing the midweek Champions League game in Paris with a knee injury and the manager suggested in his press conference reported by The Mirror that the reason he has not been starting Olivier Giroud in the centre forward position is that the big Frenchman is not fit and has been slowly reaching match readiness.
Not only that but he apparently hurt his toe after coming on and then getting sent off against PSG. So if Giroud cannot start then Wenger will have to go again with Alexis Sanchez through the middle or hand a second start to the new Spanish signing Lucas Perez.
I don’t know about you but neither of these options really fills me with confidence that Arsenal will get the win we need in Hull.
