Arsenal won’t be selling Bellerin this summer

Every summer we are inundated by Arsenal transfer rumours linking Hector Bellerin with a return to Barcelona, despite the youngster signing a very long term contract just last season. Earlier this year it was even mooted that the Gunners have decided to sell the young Spaniard to boost the warchest for incoming players, and we need quite a few!

At the beginning of this season the BBC’s David Ornstein reported that Bellerin had actually asked Wenger to sell him, but now it seems that Hector has no wish to depart any more as he has told the world that he asked for the Number 2 shirt next season. Talking to team-mates Per Mertesacker and Rob Holding on the club’s official YouTube page, Bellerin said: “In the summer, I’m going to ask for the number two shirt.

“I’ve already spoken to Vic, he knows.”

He is talking about Vic Akers OBE, who has been the Arsenal kit manager since just after Wenger took charge of the club. The shirt number 2 has just become vacant since Matthieu Debuchy left this year, and the previous wearer was Abou Diaby, so I’m not sure if it is a lucky one or not!

But just the fact that Bellerin has asked about taking that shirt is clear proof that he doesn’t see himself leaving the club any time soon. So, please, no more Bellerin to Barcelona rumours this summer!
