We did our bit, and Arsenal fans, Arsene Wenger and the players have to be proud and happy with the achievement of finishing on top of our Champions League group for the first time since 2011. It is just a shame that this year that does not seem to be quite as much of an advantage as usual as the two pots look a lot more balanced.
It would have looked a lot better for the Gunners ahead of the knockout draw on Monday if Re4al Madrid had not faltered at the Santiago Bernabeu last night. They needed to beat Borussia Dortmund to win their group and looked well on the way after two goals from Karim Benzema put them in command.
They could have had more as well in a dominant performance but then they let it slip and Zinedine Zidane was disguusted to see the German side level the scores with just minutes to play. All this means that Madrid are in pot two and Wenger has already talked about the Spanish giants being the strongest side.
They will probably have Gareth Bale back from injury by the time the knockout games come around as well, so will all the Arsenal manager’s worst fears come true on Monday?
