Arsene Wenger: “Stability is absolutely vital for a club”

All those Arsenal fans that think we will never win another premier league with Arsene Wenger as manager will not be pleased to hear the boss talking about his record-breaking run of overseeing 810 (and counting) EPL games. There are very few managers in modern football that have come close other than the legendary United boss Alex Ferguson, so does Wenger think that anyone else will break the record in the future, or if it going to be extremely rare?

“Wenger said. “We always come back to the same thing: I feel that the most important thing is that competent people and technical stability is absolutely vital for a club. You need people to carry the values of the club for generations.

“If you change all the 20 managers in the middle of the season, you will still have three teams who go down and only one champion.

“We see now the pressure is on every club to change their manager very quickly and then people sit there but who [comes next]? You can see most of the time they turn to managers who have been sacked somewhere else, so it is a problem.

“The most important thing today is to be strong inside clubs to resist that kind of pressure and stress.”

He does have a point of course. Arsenal is known to be consistently successful club in England, with Top Four virtually guaranteed in every season Le Prof has been in charge, and he has won many League titles and countless FA Cups. Any new man coming in would struggle to emulate the Frenchman’ success, and certainly no one will ever beat his Premier League record. So let us all sing together – There’s only one Arsene Wenger!
