Athletic Bilbao show Arsenal how to deal with Ramsey

You would think after last years hassle with Alexis Sanchez, Arsenal would not have let Aaron Ramsey stall on agreeing a new contract so long, so that now there is only one week left to try and offload him to a foreign side if he continues to refuse to sign.

So it is very interesting to read about how Athletico Bilbao are dealing with their keeper Alex Ramiro, who is also stalling on a new contract. The 23 year-old is the next successor to Kepa Arrizabalaga who made his big money move to Chelsea this summer.

Despite the contract stand-off, Remiro was shocked to find that he wasn’t included in the squad for Bilbao’s opening League game against Leganes, and the Coach Eduardo Berizzo confirmed that the goalkeeper’s exclusion was due to the delays in agreement. He said: “As long as this is not resolved with peace and harmony we have decided not to call up [Remiro]. The club have learned from the past and do not want to see history repeated,”

Strangely enough this has now motivated Remiro to get his agents back into the club to thrash out an agreement so he can carry on playing. I wonder if Arsenal did the same thing with Ramsey he might get things sorted a little quicker as well?
