Aubameyang and Lacazette could soon be cause for concern

As things stand today, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette are the two most important players for Arsenal, they have contributed five of the six goals scored so far and losing either of them would leave a huge gap to fill.

While there is no risk right now to them staying at the Emirates, that could change sooner than we all think.

Neither has signed a new contract and the longer it takes the more concerning the situation will become. Both players were linked with moves in the summer and the club have made it clear they will not allow players to enter the final year of their contract without a new deal being agreed.

The situation with Aubameyang is the most urgent, he will enter the final 12 months of his contract next summer and if he does not sign an extension by then he will almost certainly be sold.

It is unlikely that he would be sold as soon as January but do not rule it out completely. If the Gabon international makes it clear he will not sign on the dotted line then Arsenal may well consider cashing in while he retains some decent value.

There is more breathing space with Lacazette as he has a year longer on his contract than Aubaemyang but the same principle applies, if he does not put pen to paper then the club will cash in at some point.

It was hoped the pair would have already agreed to new deals but the longer this goes on then the bleaker the situation looks, certainly from a fan’s perspective.

Hopefully, the duo will sign new deals by January but if they do not then, I cannot condemn the club if they decide to sell them.
