Aubameyang urged to join Arsenal!

Former Teammate backs Aubameyang to join the Gunners!

The Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre Emrick Aubameyang has become arguably the club’s main man since joining from St Etienne a few seasons back, and now the Gabon international is reportedly looking to move away from Germany. Real Madrid is supposedly the most likely destination for the frontman and they will unsurprisingly probably be the striker’s preferred choice. However Aubameyang also has plenty of interest from the Premier League, a competitive league which is sure to interest him.

Aubameyang was supposedly left out of international team duties recently due to his situation at Dortmund regarding a possible transfer, and now one of his former teammates has been speaking to the media about a future move that Aubameyang may soon make. Daniel Cousin is a former international teammate of Aubameyang and keeps in close contact with his fellow countryman, so when Cousin spoke to the media about Aubameyang’s situation, it was sure to raise a few eyebrows.

Cousin stated: “I think he wants to move to England. The Premier League is a different style to Germany; it’s more physical and, for me, it’s a good moment for Pierre to move to a big club like Man United or Man City. Yes [he would be a success]. I think he can score more goals and get more experience with a big team. With Mourinho at Man United, and Guardiola [at City], I think this kind of coach can help Pierre-Emerick to progress.”

From the current quotes it doesn’t seem too promising for the Gunners, who Cousin did not mention regarding the clubs that could take Aubameyang’s signature this summer. However when asked which team would suit Aubameyang the most, Cousin was quick to mention the Gunners! He stated: “Arsenal! The team plays very well and Arsenal needs a striker to win the title next season. I think if he plays with Ozil… I think he can play very well with them.”

The idea of Ozil feeding Aubameyang with the strength, pace and power the 26 year old holds in front of goal, is a truly amazing thought which is sure to scare a few defences next season, but that is only if it ends up being true. Aubameyang is sure to interest a few Premier League clubs and I’d expect all of the generic top six to at least believe they have a shot at signing one of the best strikers in Europe right now. However Arsenal have one main advantage over their rivals in the Premier League, when it comes to trying to get Aubameyang to sign on the dotted line.

Arsenal not only have Champions League football again next season, unlike Manchester United and Chelsea who will surely be interested if he becomes available for transfer, but Arsenal are also the only team in the Champions League places crying out for a striker. Manchester City already have Aguero and so are unlikely to be tempted into spending big money knowing that one of the two may be benched, especially with Aubameyang also considering if he’d get first team football at the club. United are arguably in need of a striker but not having Champions League football may swing against them. Arsenal also undoubtedly have the most favoured style of play out of all the sides as well, with Aubameyang liking to play quick football with plenty of passing and a range of different chances created. Aubameyang thrives off this type of play much more than United or Chelsea’s style, so that could also work in Arsenal’s favour.

The one thing that does concern the most is that Arsenal will more than likely be unwilling to compete with a big money move for the player, which could therefore see Aubameyang move elsewhere rather than to the Gunners. I still think a move to Madrid is the most likely destination for Aubameyang but maybe just maybe, Arsenal have the best shot of Aubameyang out of all the Premier League clubs, if the Borussia Dortmund man does move clubs this summer.
