Arsenal rocked as Walcott may need MORE surgery

Everyone concerned with Arsenal was a bit worried when Theo Walcott, who had by that time made just two appearances as a sub after coming back from an operation almost a year ago to fix the anterior cruciate ligament damage picked up in a north London derby in January, was selected by Roy Hodgson to join up with his England team mates.

The worry was that Hodgson might overplay Walcott for England and it would not be the first time we lost a player to that sort of thing. But Theo came back with an injury anyway, despite not playing a single minute. The 25-year old had picked up some problem in his groin that has kept him out of the Arsenal squad in recent weeks and now we learn, from a report in The Mirror, that the problem may be worse than first thought and may even require more surgery to fix it.

That would be a huge blow for Arsene Wenger and the team and the Arsenal medical staff have apparently been working hard with Walcott in the last few weeks to avoid this. The flying forward is due to be assessed again this week and the hope is that he will be able to resume full training. If not, it could be another season with next to no action from one of our most important players.

Cross everything you can cross Gooners, because we need Theo back on the pitch, not back in the treatment room…
