BANG! Arsenal’s worst fears come true with Debuchy injury!

The injury curse that seems to have been hanging over the Emirates stadium and the Arsenal team in recent years goes on. After already losing our main striker Olivier Giroud to a bizarre tibia injury for three months, we now face about the same amount of time without our first choice right back.

Arsene Wenger has revealed in an Arsenal.com report that Mathieu Debuchy has already had surgery on his problem ankle that will mean the Gunners will not be able to call on the France international until around the turn of the year.

Wenger said, “He has had surgery and will be out for three months. A reasonable delay is three months.

“It all went well, but it can be a week or two earlier or a week or two later, but it will be around three months.

“It is a blow of course, how big it will be we will only know afterwards because it will be down to how well we replace him. We bought [Calum] Chambers for that.”

This is really bad news for the club and for our new summer signing, because Debuchy was really starting to look good in his role as replacement for the long serving Bacary Sagna. As the boss indicated, he does have the former Southampton player Calum Chambers to cover for the injured Frenchman, but it looked like Wenger was grooming the 19-year old to be a central defender and we won’t have any cover there if Chambers is on the right.

So hopefully Hector Bel;lerin will also get some chances at right back, in the lesser games to start with, such as Southampton in the Capital One cup tomorrow. Then if he is needed in a big ga,e for some reason, Bellerin will have gained more experience and feel more comfortable in the first team. Get well soon Mathieu.
