Benitez to give Arsenal unexpected Premier League boost?

A lot of Arsenal fans have resigned themselves to going at least another season without winning the holy grail of the Premier League trophy. And with Leicester City having stretched their lead over us to eight points with just nine games left to play it is hard to feel muster up a lot of belief.

But if the Foxes do start to feel the pressure and the nerves kick in, their momentum could stop and we all know how quicly a good run can turn into a period os stagnation and frustration. Having said that, not many are expecting much resistance for them in their next game, which is at home to relegation threatened and badly out of form Newcastle United who visit the King Power stadium on Monday.

But with all the papers talking about the imminent sacking of Steve McLaren and the possible appointment of Rafa Benitez, maybe there is reason to hope that the Magpies can cause an upset. Even if Rafa does not have much time to work with the Newcastle squad, there is always that new manager bounce to factor in.

And although the Geordie fans have not had much to shout about this season, they did manage to win at White Hart lane in January. So could Benitez do Arsenal a big favour this weekend?
