Betting odds slashed on Arsenal striker making shock Man United move

Bookmakers are reported to have slashed the odds on Arsenal’s Danny Welbeck making a surprise return to Manchester United.

The forward left Old Trafford in 2014, having been told by Louis Van Gaal that he was surplus to requirements, but is claimed to have a fan in new United boss Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese chief was confirmed as having joined the club yesterday by Sky Sports, but United waited until this morning to officially announce his arrival. He is firmly expected to bring in a number of signings this summer, in order to mould his side into a championship winning one, having seen the side drop out of the top four this term.

Danny Welbeck is touted as a likely name on his list of potential targets, although a move this summer looks extremely unlikely, given he is currently ruled out until February of next year.

The forward had been enjoying a thoroughly impressive year in the famous Arsenal Red, but a knee injury meant that his progress has been disastrously halted, and he will now miss the European Championships, as well as the start of the coming domestic campaign.

It remains to be seen whether he would favour a return to the club he joined as a 14 year-old boy, or whether he has a new-found love for our beloved North-London side.

When fit, Welbz was our first-choice striker, although he was still on the upward curve in regards to returning to 100% condition, and was left out of a number of starting line-ups in favour of Olivier Giroud.

Despite the facts about his injury, the England international has been slashed from 8/1 (9.0) to 3/1 (4.0) to make the big switch back to United, but I would happily lay that bet with anybody who wished to take those odds.

Do you think Welbeck could be interested in going backwards?
