Can Arsenal fight their way into title race?

Chelsea are the Premier League’s runaway leaders currently, and despite sitting in second place, Arsenal are a sizeable eight points behind.

The Blues look extremely impressive at present, having won 15 of their last 16 league outings, but it’s not just their wins that have them standing-out above their rivals.

Chelsea are the only side that look assured of wins despite what they come up against. Resolute bottom-end sides have all caused problems for the top six teams this term, while the Blues just seem to get on with it and come out with the required result.

The league leaders are showing they have that star-quality needed to take games by the scruff of the neck, while our side seem to be scrapping for their results all too often.

We are fighting our way through this season, and have now found ourselves in the favourable second spot, but we are not happy with settling for another season of ‘just’ a top-four finish.

Obviously if the league leaders manage to carry on their run of form, there will be no chance of catching them, but their next two games are against Liverpool and us. We both have the ability to cause them trouble, and are two of only three sides to have beat them already this season.

Those wins were both before their tactical change to a 3-4-2-1 formation however, but as Tottenham showed us the other week, it can be beaten.

The problem with us is that we are not showing our star-quality in our matches at present, despite picking up wins. The 4-0 win over Swansea looks dominant on paper, but the reality is we got two luck own goals, and for large spells of the game were under pressure by the Welsh side.

We seem to be scrapping for our results, but if we cant start to win these games more comfortably, there will be many more points lost, and while this fighting mentality MIGHT help us to get a result with Chelsea in two weeks, it will not guarantee us enough to challenge for the title I feel.

Could our fight really keep us in the title race? IF we beat Chelsea again, will it give us the confidence to push on for the remainder of the campaign?
