I suppose that a lot could depend on what happens with Arsenal over the next few months, until the winter transfer window swings open after the new year. But as things stand you would have to assume that an offer of around £40 million for Olivier Giroud would be enough to persuade Arsene Wenger to sell.
Giroud could get himself on a red hot scoring streak while all the other strikers at the club struggle to find the back of the net, thereby making the France international centre forward a key member of the first team that the boss could not, in all conscience, let go, but not many of us expect that to happen.
I like the big man, don’t get me wrong. He is an excellent player to have in the squad but as has been said many times before, he is not the striker that will spearhead a title winning campaign for you. Our Premier League rivals Everton are not really holding out any hope of lifting the EPL trophy in May but Ronald Koeman wants at least a place in Europe next season and he is so determined to get Giroud to help with that goal, according to The Mirror, that he is willing to splash out a cool 40 million in January.
There were Arsenal transfer rumours this summer linking the French forward with a move to The Toffees but it did not happen and Giroud decided to stay and fight for his place, but once again he is being used sparingly by the manager and will probably be happy to go.
If Everton do offer Arsenal that sort of cash, can anyone see us turning it down?
