CONFIRMED – Arsenal close to selling yet ANOTHER striker

Arsene Wenger has already sent Lukas Podolski on loan to Inter Milan and is in the process of finding another Premier League club to park Yaya Sanogo at for the rest of the season, but now we have the (very surprising) news that Arsenal have agreed to sell Benik Afobe to an un-named Championship club, believed to be Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 21 year-old Afobe has been on fire at League One’s MK Dons this season and has already bagged 19 goals, and I honestly thought that Wenger would be bringing him back to Arsenal next seasonto give him another chance to impress, but now it’s been confirmed by MK Dons manager Karl Robinson revealed that they will be losing their star man.

“Benik is officially speaking to another Championship club,” said Robinson in the Birmingham Mail. “We can’t say who that’s to but he’s having a medical somewhere and he is maybe moving onto other things.

“We wish him good luck.”

As usual there is no mention of how much Arsenal will gain from the transfer fee, but it must surely be a pretty penny after Afobe’s goalscoring feats this season. If he can carry on knocking in the goals in the Championship, Arsene may live to regret letting him leave cheaply. I would have thought it a much better investment to see if he could cut it with Arsenal in the next pre-season before making a decision on his future.

After Podolski’s outburst against Wenger, I doubt very much whether the German will be returning to the Emirates, and there are very few people (including Wenger) who believe Sanogo is good enough to return either, so we can now only hope that Wenger is having a clear out of his peripheral strikers to make room for one BIG-MONEY striker signing in the summer….
