Coquelin can’t play but CAN help Arsenal beat Chelsea

Arsenal fans are not the type to get too excited about a January transfer window. We have good reason too. Just whisper the name of Kim Kallstrom and watch the pain in the eyes of any Gooner that happens to be close by. Arsene Wenger has signed a player at least, and in the area of the pitch where we most needed one, but I get the feeling that the signing of Mohamed Elneny has not exactly got tingles running down the spine of the Arsenal fans or the other players in the squad.

I sometimes think that completing the transfer of a big name player is almost worth the money just for the boost of belief and confidence it gives to a club and I still hope that the Prof has an ace or two up his sleeve. But maybe he does not need one, because the return of one of the many key players on the Arsenal injury list could give us exactly the same sort of boost.

That is why I think that the pictures on the Arsenal website of Francis Coquelin back in full training this week could have the same sort of effect that was felt when the Gunners confirmed the signing of Mesut Ozil. Think about how happy you are feeling about having this vital cog in the Arsenal engine room back and then think about how much more of a lift it will give to the players around him.

Ramsey is thinking of how much more freedom to attack he will soon have, while Mertesacker can stop having nightmares about how exposed he might be on the counter. Every Arsenal player will be feeling a little bit more belief that the title can be ours this season just because Le Coq is fit again, but will his return from injury ensure that Arsenal beat Chelsea tomorrow?
