Could Arsenal still lose Champions League place to Man United?

Most Arsenal fans clearly believe that the job was done last weekend when Arsenal stuck to the task and dug in to deny Man City the win that would have taken them above us in the Premier League table. It would only have been on goal difference but it would have meant that it would have been Arsene Wenger rather than Manuel Pellegrini looking over their shoulder at the chasing Manchester United of Louis van Gaal.

I am sure that Wenger is keen to drill into the Arsenal players this week that the job is not yet done, even though the away game at Man City was the really important one and that the chances of us missing out on the Champions League are fairly small. The fact of the matter is that the chance is still there.

I really hope that Slaven Bilic and his West Ham side do us a big favour tonight and take something from their clash with United, because that would mean that they could no longer catch us and even though City could still finish in third, the pressure would be off.

If United win tonight, in the final game to be played at Upton Park, the pressure will be on both Arsenal and City and even though we play the already relegated and awful Aston Villa at home in our final game, I am not confident enough in this Arsenal team and their ability to cope with pressure.

If we lost and City won they would finish higher on goal difference and if United beat West Ham and then Crystal Palace at the weekend they would finish a point better off than us. So could van Gaal and United still deny Arsenal a place in next season’s Champions League?
