Coveted international striker names Arsenal as possible destination

Timo Werner has stated that he wants to move to a big club in the future, naming Arsenal as a possible destination.

The 21 year-old shot to fame with RB Leipzig last season, scoring 21 goals in 31 Bundesliga outings and has impressed on the international stage also, scoring six goals in only seven competitive appearances.

Werner is naturally being watched by all the top clubs currently, and while he is trying to remain grounded, he is aware that futures in football change continuously.

“So far, I have progressed very well with Leipzig,” he said.

“That is why I do not think what is ahead in one, two or three years.

“Of course I want to play at a big club. But, we have not yet come to terms with the development at Leipzig. Perhaps RB will be a big club too – I’m quite sure.

“In Spain there are a maximum of three clubs with Barca, Real and Atletico Madrid. In England there are a few more: Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City.

“FC Bayern is also a big club, but for me it is not a topic that I am concerned with.”

It sounds to me as if Werner is already considering his future, but with the transfer window having only just closed, he has no reason to declare his wish to leave.

Werner is proving to be one of the most wanted players outside the bigger clubs in Europe, and his value will only increase as he continues to impress.

RB Leipzig do not seem keen to sell their players without a fight, as shown by their sale of Naby Keita, who will have to see out the season with his current club. Liverpool pursued him throughout the summer, but were unable to tempt the Red Bull franchise to allow him to leave immediately, and still shafted them for a whopping £48 Million.

Could Arsenal land Werner? Is he the real deal? Does he sound like he could be open to a switch in the near future?
