David Luiz not looking to leave Arsenal in the near future

David Luiz commits his future to Arsenal but doesn’t rule out a return to Brazil.

David Luiz may have not had the best start to life as an Arsenal defender. But he is not looking to leave anytime soon.

Luiz moved from rivals Chelsea to help Arsenal fix the defence that has been a problem spot for them for a long time.

Recently, there has been a trend of Brazilian players quitting Europe to end their career in the Brazilian Serie A and Luiz was asked if he had such plans in the nearest future.

The former PSG man was quick to state his commitment to Arsenal who he has a two years deal with. But he has admitted that playing back at home is attractive. He praised the quality of the Brazilian league and hinted at a move there when his deal with Arsenal expires.

‘I, today, have no such plan. I don’t have that as a goal. But we never know, football goes very fast,’ David Luiz told ESPN Brasil.

‘What makes me happy is to see the quality of Brazilian football. You see Jorge Jesus with Flamengo, and the great players like Felipe, Rafinha, Gerson, Gabigol, who’s back shining as he always shone at first at Santos. ‘Then you see Renato’s Grêmio, who have been playing great football for many years.’

Luiz remains one of the most experienced players in an Arsenal dressing room that seems to be lacking leaders. Many fans even expected him to have been named permanent captain, but they would be delighted to hear that he is committed to them for at least the next two seasons.
