Did Wilshere just book an EPL starting spot with Arsenal?

When Arsenal next run out onto the pitch it will be at the Emirates on Tuesday night, when the Premier League has a rare midweek slot with no domestic cup action and no Europa League and Champions League games to be played. It could also mark a rare Premier League start for Jack Wilshere, who has not started a league game for the Gunners in about a year-and-a-half, but do you think he did enough to get back in the starting line-up to face Huddersfield Town on Tuesday night?

Wilshere did not have all that long against Burnley at Turf Moor and irt was not his contribution that earned Arsenal all three points, at least not directly. I would argue, however, that Jack did give the Gunners a lot more thrust and attacking impetus. Alex Iwobi was largely ineffective and although the young Nigeria international is a class act I am sure that Wilshere will feel he imp[roved the team after coming on.

All this may be immaterial if Mesut Ozil recovers from the illness that caused him to miss today’s game (if it was an illness and not some off field problems we are not being told about) but if the German is not in the side in midweek then Wilshere is sure to be one of those in the frame to replace him.

In a game where Arsenal will expect to dominate the ball but have a tough defence to break down the vision and ability of the English midfielder could be crucial but he does not have the pace of Iwobi and as I say he has not started an EPL game for Arsenal since the last game of the 2015-16 season, so would you put him in?
