Do Alexis stats show Arsenal have a new Henry?

The former Gunners and France international star Thierry Henry was a lot younger than the current Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez was when the two players began their careers with Arsenal. So it is unlikely that the Chilean is going to be able to get close to the Frenchman’s club record of 226 goals with 174 in the Premier League alone.

Henry had eight full seasons as a Gunner and Alexis would have to be still here whe he is 33-years old to match that and he would have to play brilliantly and consistently for the whole time to have any chance of the record. But as reported by Metro the stats show that the 27-year old has made a very good start.

The win over Chelsea this weekend was his 100th game for the club and he scored his 47th goal which is just one fewer than Henry managed after 100. There are other similarities as well, especially if Wenger continues to use Alexis as a centre forward because Henry also started on the flank before Wenger moved him inside.

Don’t forget that Alexis had a disappointing last season by his standards, with fitness and injury issues affecting his form. This year he is already off to a flier, with five goals in the last five games and if he carries on like that and stays fit he could get close to the 32 managed by Henry in his third season.

Do you think Arsenal may finally have found a striker to fill the boots of the great man?
