Does Aubameyang deserve criticism for his move to Arsenal?

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang forced a move from Borussia Dortmund to Arsenal last month, and come under criticism from former team-mate and current Man City star Ilkay Gundogan.

The striker joined in a supposed £55 Million move from the BVB on deadline day last month, but not before being fined on a number of occasions by his former club during the same campaign.

Aubameyang is believed to have eagerly pursued an exit from the club, but that did not stop him from notching up 21 goals in all competitions for Dortmund, including six in his last seven competitive outings for his former side.

He clearly didn’t refuse to play for the BVB, nor did he appear to lower his workrate for them, so they can hardly complain, but that hasn’t stopped former team-mate Gundogan for talking out on the subject, another player who coincidentally made his intention to leave the club public before leaving to join Man City for a mediocre £20 Million fee.

The City midfielder said: “I don’t know if I could have done it like Auba did.

“At that time I was also criticised for my open change intentions at BVB. The reaction of the fans I understood a bit.

“But I only wanted to be honest and always gave everything for the club.”

Gundogan continued: “I very much hope that now peace is restored. Because you need it to be successful in the Bundesliga. All the bickering was certainly not conducive for the performance of the team.

“As a player you get on with it, and if you read any negative things in the paper every day, then it’s a burden. That’s a hindrance to getting full performance.

“I keep my fingers crossed for BVB that the club qualify for the Champions League. It would be nice if I see the boys there again next season.”

Is Gundogan a hypocrite for his criticisms? Did PEA ever not give his all for the BVB?
