Does this mean Arsenal will NOT sell Alexis Sanchez in January?

If the latest Arsenal transfer rumours are true then rather than it being bad news for the Gunners on the subject of our Chile international star Alexis Sanchez, I think it would spell good news for Arsenal and the fans who want to see the striker play as many games as possible for Arsenal before he finally moves on and signs for another club.

The Mirror is reporting that Pep Guardiola will try again to sign Alexis for Man City when the winter transfer window comes around in January after failing with a deadline day bid last week. That is no surprise but what is a surprise is that the report claims he will only be willing to give us £20 million for our star man.

If that is the case I think it makes it much easier for Arsene Wenger, who will not really be tempted or under pressure to accept such a small amount for a player that would take a hell of a lot more money to replace, as Wenger himself admitted in comments reported by the Evening Standard this week.

The Frenchman said, “You take a Sanchez into the final year of [his] contract, you sacrifice £60-£70m income and at the end of the season, you will have to buy somebody for that amount of money.”

While £20 million for a player you will lose for nothing just a few months later may seem okay, or it may have done just a year or so ago, it is a pittance in today’s transfer market, so will Arsenal be keeping Sanchez for the whole season?
