Everton close gap but also help Arsenal with West Brom

Arsenal fans may not like the look of the Premier League table at the moment and we can only hope that is starts to look better rather than worse after the next round of EPL games set to be played this weekend. The fact that Everton won at home puts them just three points behind us, bringing up the unthinkable possibility that the in form Toffees could actually overtake us.

At least Manchester United did not get a chance to make up any ground on Arsenal, because they are now sat just one points behind us and so a win would have taken them above us in the table. At the minute, however, we have played the same number of games as Jose Mourinho’s side and we have a much better goal difference.

They also have the Europa League games to worry about and some injury problems on top of Ibrahimovic missing the next two league games so fingers crossed. Arsenal could really do with a win in the Premier League’s first match of the weekend, though, to stretch that gap between us and Everton, so maybe Ronald Koeman also did us a favour at the weekend by beating our next opponents West Brom and making it two defeats in a row for Tony Pulis and the Baggies.

So West Brom’s form and confidence has taken a hit while our second half display in the FA cup win over Lincoln has hopefully brought the flair and swagger back to Arsenal. So has Everton’s win over West Brom actually helped us to stay ahead of them and get back into the Champions League next year?
