February Review – Arsenal have a VERY challenging month coming up

Arsenal head to Swansea on Tuesday with a win desperately needed to keep track with the teams ahead of us in the race for Fourth Place. Thanks to a couple of results this week we are currently only 3 points below Tottenham who are 5th, and 5 points behind Liverpool in 4th.

Considering our away form has been absolutely useless this season, the three points are far from guaranteed in Wales on Wednesday, but we should have less trouble when we face Everton, who are without a win in their last 7 games, at the Emirates next Saturday.

Then the fun begins the following Saturday, the 10th of Feb, when we travel to Wembley for the massive derby against Tottenham. A crucial game in the top Four race.

The next two Thursdays are taken up with the two-leg knockout Europa League matches against Ostersund. The first leg is in Sweden and they are unbeaten there in this competition, beating teams like Hertha Berlin, PAOK and Galatasaray as they qualified easily. We could do with at least a draw before taking them back to the Emirates on Thursday the 22nd.

Just a few days later, on Sunday 25th, we have the League Cup Final against Manchester City. This is a competition Wenger has never won, but with our great Wembley record we could have a chance in this one. Whatever the result, on the following Thursday we have to play them again. This time at the Emirates. After that game we have a much better idea of where we are likely to end up at the end of the season…..
