Finally, some very positive news for Arsenal fans to celebrate

It looks increasingly likely that we have finally found a new technical director following the news that former Gunner Edu has agreed in principle to take on the role in the summer.

We have been looking to replace Sven Mislintat, who left suddenly in February after just over one year in the job and had pinned our hopes on Monchi filling the position, however, he ultimately decided to return to Sevilla instead.

Edu, who was a member of the Invincibles, is currently a coordinator for the Brazil national team and is set to join us after the Copa América, which is being held in his native Brazil this year.

There are still some final details to be ironed out and one more meeting is required before our former midfielder puts pen to paper but the signs are that this is just a formality.

This is good news for us, Edu knows what Arsenal is all about, the type of player the fans desire and what sort of football we demand.

Director of football, Raul Sanllehi, and the managing director, Vinai Venkatesham, are attempting to build a brand new structure at the club that fits in with the vision of Unai Emery and with his historical links to the club, Edu will have a very important part to play.

Hopefully, this will be the start of a new era at the Emirates.
