Five Arsenal stars headed for summer exit, but where to?

We are into the last two months of the current season, which means some of our favourite stars are into the later stages of their Arsenal careers.

Mathieu Flamini, Tomas Rosicky and Mikel Arteta are all coming to the ends of their contracts, with no extensions expected to be offered. Kieran Gibbs is also likely to leave in search of regular first-team action, and one of Wojciech Szczesny or David Ospina is likely to force a move away from the club.

Where each of them will go is yet to be confirmed, but we expect both Rosicky and Arteta to retire from playing, with the latter tipped to go into coaching in the near future.

Flamini is said to be considering jetting off to America to continue playing in the MLS, with talks expected to be pencilled in the near future. The Frenchman has won three FA Cup winners medals in his two stints in North-London, but has been limited to only 16 league outings this term, and will struggle for game-time with Jack Wilshere, Santi Cazorla, Mohamed Elneny and Francis Coquelin vying for central roles.

Kieran Gibbs is likely to stay in England, with Newcastle having been linked with a move for his signature in the January transfer window. Another option for the 26 year-old could be a switch to Italy, but I expect him to favour a stay in the Premier League.

Our goalkeepers know that with Petr Cech settled in North-London, they will need to be elsewhere in order to guarantee first-team football, or pray for a long-term injury for the former Chelsea star. Ospina was rather unlucky to have lost his place as number one after a thoroughly impressive end to last season, and will be frustrated at having been limited to only three league outings this term.

Szczesny is also likely to be eager to secure a move away, although his love for Arsenal could mean he would be willing to spend another year out on loan, in hope of securing a first-team role at the Emirates in the future. The shotstopper is still only 25, which is young for a goalkeeper, has been enjoying playing regularly for Roma, and will be keen to continue playing regularly.

I find it hard to believe that either goalkeeper will agree to stay at the club for the new campaign, and sit on the bench like the Colombian has done all year, without some guarantees over their playing time.

Neither are worthy of challenging Cech for a place in goal, but who would you rather us have as back-up? Do you think Wenger could let both leave and bring in a replacement?
