Glenn Hoddle has urged Arsenal to take advantage of Layvin Kurzawa on the left side of the Paris Saint-Germain defence.
The former Tottenham and Chelsea midfielder has been talking about the upcoming Champions League tie between PSG and the Gunners tonight, and claims he can see a weakness in their line-up.
Hoddle claims that Kurzawa is great going forward, but will leave his side weak in defence as he looks to push up the pitch at every opportunity. With this, he has urged Theo Walcott, or whoever is chosen to play on the right-wing, to resist the urge to follow Kurzawa back into their own half, and take a risk for their own attacking present.
For this sort of tactic, maybe we could tinker our XI to field Mesut Ozil on the right, with Santi Cazorla or Mohamed Elneny ahead of Granit Xhaka and Francis Coquelin in midfield. This could allow the extra midfielder to drop back into the base of midfield, and allow Coquelin to track across to deal with the attacking full-back, with Ozil to stay forward as we look to exploit the gap in defence.
We should certainly be looking to take advantage of our opponents struggles at present, with PSG having failed to win either of their last two matches, and we come into the back with some confidence having won our previous two.
Wenger also rested a couple of players for the weekend’s fixture with Southampton, giving us an even stronger chance of coming away from Paris with some points, and we should hold onto some confidence in our side, despite being the underdogs according to the betting odds.
Should we risk leaving Kurzawa to push up and try to take advantage of the space? Would this give us the best chance of a win?
