Former Gunner tells Arsenal how to beat Liverpool

Even though Arsenal travel north on Saturday to face a Liverpool side that is struggling and putting their manager Jurgen Klopp under serious pressure, no one connected with Arsenal expects this away game to be easy. If we do not get it right the chances are we will pay the price with a damaging defeat.

The Gunners will have to be strong all over the pitch, of course, even though our opponents are in a bad place after losing to Leicester City on Monday and they are left with no chance of a trophy. Liverpool are on the verge of being overtaken by their fierce rivals Man United and they are not too far from being caught by city rivals Everton, but the last thing Arsenal must do is to let them off the hook.

We need to stop the Anfield crowd getting going and we need to make sure the Liverpool players are under pressure so I have to agree with the former Gunner Paul Merson for once when he suggests that the most important thing for us to do on Saturday is to start the match well.

As reported by Metro, the football pundit is expecting a game full of goals as both sides push forward, but he believes that Arsenal can come out on top as long as we keep things tight to begin with.

He said, ‘I could not believe how bad Liverpool were on Monday. They were terrible. You’d expect them not to be as bad again with Arsenal in town, but I am struggling to predict a winner in this game so that’s why I’m going for a 2-2 draw.

‘There will be plenty of goals because both sides will go gung-ho. Arsenal just need to stay in the game in the first 20 minutes and if they can do that they will have an excellent chance of getting a positive result.’

Can the Arsenal defence stay strong at the start on Saturday and do you think that will be the platform for a Gunners win?
