Four former players and a supercomputer predict Watford v Arsenal result

Former players turned pundits love predicting Arsenal results and the game against Watford is no different, though I am a little surprised by some of their predictions this week.

I have dug out four former player predictions and the BT supercomputer, however, there are some ommissions, as an example Paul Merson, maybe he will put his out later today or tomorrow.

Anyway, let’s kick off with Michael Owen, the former Liverpool man sits on the fence and goes with a draw. The BBC’s Mark Lawrenson takes the same view and is predicting a 1-1 draw at Vicarage Road.

Next, we have former Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas who predicts a 3-1 win for the Gunners over the Hornets, the exact same score that former Arsenal forward and SkySports pundit Charlie Nicolas predicts.

Finally, the BT Supercomputer which is going with a 2-0 Watford win, though it should be noted that the machine has predicted the whole season results in advance so is hardly current in terms of form and context and I have to ask, since when has software been called a supercomputer?

So, in conclusion, just two go for an Arsenal win, which I do find surprising, that means of the five predictions listed above 60% reckon Arsenal will fail to win. I have to admit that has surprised me, especially when you consider that Watford is rock bottom and have changed their manager.

I get the feeling that too much emphasis is being put on Watford having a new man in charge and Arsenal’s away record over the last couple of season.

Anyway, let’s see how accurate they are this week.
