Gabriel´s Brazil call-up GREAT news for Arsenal

Perhaps it was a part of the reason why Gabriel Armando De Abreu, known to Arsenal fans and the English football world as Gabriel Paulista because he comes from São Paulo, signed for Arsenal in the January transfer window was to increase his chances of making it into the Brazil national team one day.

Well he didn´t have to wait long as three games into his career as a Gunner, our new centre back has been called up to the squad and could make his international debut at the Emirates stadium next week, against his new team mate Alexis Sanchez and his Chile side.

Maybe the fact that game is being played here has helped Gabriel to get the attention of the manager Dunga but whatever the reason it is very good news for Gabriel and could be just as good for Arsenal. At Newcastle today it looked like Gabriel was determined to prove himself worthy of a place in the team, not just the squad.

The 24-year old may have thought he would never get into the famous yellow shirt, not having featured at any level for them so far but I think that will make him work even harder. He has been committed, alert, aggressive and generally very impressive since coming to north London and there seems to be no lack of self-belief that he is good enough for the Premier League and the Brazil team.

So as long as Gabriel does not damage Alexis with a tackle then this international call up can only help Arsenal.
