We were given a double whammy this morning when we found out that Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud had both been sent back from international duty, after facing each other in a friendly game last week, which France won 2-0 with Giroud scoring.
But it has now been revealed that although Giroud was sent home because of injury, there is nothing at all wrong with Ramsey. This morning he Wales international manager Chris Coleman revealed the reasoning behind the midfielders return to the Emirates.
“Coming into the camp we knew we were only going to have him for France,” Coleman said. “No matter how he felt afterwards we decided it would be one game for Aaron Ramsey.
“So he’s gone back, he’s okay, he came through the game okay.
“I think coming into the camp because of what’s been happening with him at Arsenal in terms of his fitness we thought one game would be better than two.
“That was the thinking, he’s gone back to Arsenal.
“He will be available for them at the weekend.”
That is very good news for Arsene Wenger, who seems to have decided that Ramsey and Granit Xhaka are his midfield pairing of choice at the moment. Giroud will not be missed for the game, but the renewal of Laurent Koscielny’s achilles injury is definitely a worry for next weekend…
