Great News – Reiss Nelson is still an Arsenal Player despite Hoffenheim move

There was consternation amongst Arsenal supporters this week when it was revealed that one of our most promising youngsters, Reiss Nelson, was set to go to Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga. It was believed he was being sold as he had not agreed a new contract with the Gunners, but now it is being revealed that is not the case.

The Metro reported today…

Arsenal will reportedly receive a €500,000 loan fee from Hoffenheim for Reiss Nelson. Nelson has been with Arsenal since 2007 but is set for a temporary move to Hoffenheim as the Gunners look to secure more regular playing time for the 18-year-old attacker.

The England Under-19 international is yet to feature under Unai Emery in the Premier League this term and has been keen to follow close friend Jadon Sancho to Germany.

Nelson will be on loan at Hoffenheim until the end of the 2018/19 campaign and will hope to return to north London with a realistic shot at nailing down a place in Emery’s starting XI.

According to German outlet Kicker, Hoffenheim will pay Arsenal a €500k (£450k) fee for Nelson for the youngster’s season-long loan. Nelson is expected to sign a new contract with the Gunners before departing for Germany.

Nelson has been with the club for over ten years so it would have been a slap in the face to the club if he had left before getting his chance to fulfil his promise and get into the Arsenal first team.

Let’s all hope he has a very proctful year in Germany and he comes back as a budding superstar….
