Guardiola in the frame to replace Wenger as Arsenal boss

Over the last week or so, there have been a few reports in the media about who will be the man to replace Arsene Wenger as the Arsenal manager. They are not saying, however, that the club are on the verge of dumping the long serving Frenchman, especially as he was only signed up for another three years at the helm this summer.

But there is a lot of speculation and interest about who will be the next bossd of the Gunners when the Prof does finish his contract or decide to step aside for someone new. And that would probably have to be the case if the subject of the latest Arsenal transfer rumour, reported by the Evening Standard, was to end up happening.

Because the paper claims that the current Bayern Munich and former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola is in the frame. The Spaniard is currently in the second year of a three year deal with the Bundesliga champions and it is believed that he will then decide to move on, with the Premier League the logical next port of call for his managerial career.

So as long as the hierarchy at Bayern do not pull the trigger and sack Pep before then, he will be available at the end of next season, when Wenger would still have one year of his own deal left to run. Guardiola’s excellent work with the young players coming through from the Barca academy, as well as his approach to the game and his tactical knowledge make him a very attractive option for Arsenal fans, but would Wenger be willing to step aside early to help the club beat our Premier League rivals?
