Has Campbell done enough to continue Arsenal career?

While Arsene Wenger and every Arsenal fan in the world, except perhaps for the embarrassing ‘celebrity’ motormouth fan Piers Morgan, will be hoping that Aaron Ramsey is fit and ready to return to club action when the Gunners travel to face West Bron after the international break, it could be the exact opposite for Joel Campbell.

The Costa Rican international forward probably feels quite happy with the way he has performed after Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain joined Ramsey on the Arsenal injury list, especially in the Swansea game where he capped a good game with a goal, but I bet he is hoping for at least one more game with the first team to show what he can do.

If the Welshman is fit enough to face the Baggies, however, I wonder when Campbell might get another chance. The FA cup does not begin until after the festive period and assuming Arsene Wenger decides to go for it and we win the next Champions League game at home to Dinamo Zagreb, then the Gunners side for the trip to Athens to face Olympiacos, where Campbell had his most successful loan spell, will be full strength and he will not be on the pitch .

In a way I hope the young striker does get another chance to play against West Brom because we have seen signs of some real talent and the more he plays the more comfortable he will feel in the side and the better he should perform.

Do you think Campbell has done enough and will he be in the Arsenal squad and even the Arsenal team for the rest of the season and in the coming years?

  1. Really don’t want Ramsey to be rushed back into the side and suffer another setback. He’s incredibly versatile and an important member of the squad.
I heard Sanchez may be rested which I personally think is a very good idea! Campbell’s working his absolute socks off, I’m all for him continuing as only a handful of games in the Prem is not nearly enough to gauge him as a player.

  2. Well he is the only left footed winger we have so he definitely offers something different. He needs to work on his attacking. He tends to slow our attacks by holding on the ball for too long.

  3. Listen Baby Please

I don’t know to be honest

He has helped us, no doubt. Simply because of injuries to all our wingers OX, Ramsey, Walcott, Welbeck. I definitely appreciate his contribution

By January we may have Ramsey, OX, Alexis, Walcott, Welbeck and that would cover both right and left

He helped us big time right now but it’s up to him whether he wants to remain here on the bench or leave in the Summer

I doubt that he would be happy on the bench most of the time.

  4. In a fully fit Arsenal squad – He may not even get a place on the bench..No disrespect to Campbell(he is a good player that works hard) but if Ramsey (not and out an out winger), is picked ahead of you in your position, it shows that you aint good enough…

    1. Chile have only just started their World Cup Qualifiers. The last nternational break was their first two games, two more coming up this week.

  5. I think we should use Campbell more..he has proven he has some skill and more game time will help him. I agree we could use him to rest Sanchez and do some rotating and if he performs use him more if he doesn’t still use him form time to tome until he gets his fitness, team play and team attack to the right level…. I have always said i like the kid he just needed some decent runs of playing.

    Hear me say it again

Joel Campbell is an asset that we should not over look..given the right game time and confidence he could become a great replacement for Sanchez

  6. Many players take their chances when they see the opportunity. Bellerin, Ramsey, Wilshere, Walcott all took their chances and are now in the main stream of the team. You can say the same of other players in other clubs. We all saw how one performance from Coquelin changed him completely and made him a very important part of Arsenal today. Can we say the same thing of Campbell? I don’t really think so. So far, I can rate him 5.5 and that is not good enough. Yes he was good against Swansea but we all saw how Gibbs in his place became a super sub against the spuds…Let nobody tell me Debuchy was not playing well hence his performance.

    1. I think you are romanticising certain players. All players have good and bad games when they first break into the first team. Heck Ramsey was almost being booed off at one stage. Campball is 23 and could develop into a great litlle player. To blame him for a bad team performance against Bayern etc is wrong. He needs both more 1st team match time and a settled training environment. You have to remember that since 2011 he has had a very unsettledfootball career being farmed off to lesser teams. He needs a full season with Arsenal to settle, develop and build a strong relationship with other team members.
