Henry Confirms Arsenal’s Interest in Liverpool Star!

As talk of a potential Arsenal move for the Liverpool youngster Raheem Sterling continues to do the rounds in the media, the Gunners’ legendary striker Thierry Henry has confirmed that his former side are indeed in for the player and has claimed that he would love to see him at the Emirates, despite admitting that the talented winger may have been badly advised by his agent.

As quoted by Sky Sports, Henry said: “I think we all know that he’s been receiving some bad advice. You can’t go out there and talk about your contract in the press. You have to respect your fans, respect the club that you play for. If you want to leave Liverpool or not, when you make the decision about leaving or staying, then do it. Don’t discuss yourself in the paper.

“He’s a great product for Liverpool and he’s going to be a great product for England. I would be more than happy to see him play for Arsenal but he’s still a Liverpool player. We all know he’s a Londoner, and we know Arsène [Wenger] is interested in him.”

After Arsene Wenger refused to rule out a move for the Englishman in his press conference, I’m sure this statement from Henry will effectively confirm Arsenal’s interest in signing him, as Titi is certain to have inside sources at his former club. When you look at the situation, Sterling’s potential move to Arsenal looks like the ideal scenario for both club and player.

Firstly, the 20-year-old wants to take his career to the next level, he wants to play Champions League football and Arsenal can certainly offer him that. Second, Sterling is from London and as Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher pointed out earlier, he is looking for a move back to his home city. In addition, Arsenal are no closer to tying down Theo Walcott to a new contract and Raheem Sterling may well be lined up as a like-for-like replacement, or, even better, as competition!

While there are many who claim that Sterling still needs to reach his full potential and urging the youngster to stay at Liverpool in order to do so, I would like to point out that there is perhaps no better manager in world football than Arsene Wenger who can help him fulfil that potential, like he’s done with so many promising youngsters in the past. Here’s hoping that Raheem Sterling can be the next such youngster.
