How Arsenal have made Welbeck a BETTER player!

Arsene Wenger and the Arsenal fans can hardly believe our luck that Louis van Gaal took the decision that Manchester United were full to the brim of quality striking options (snigger) and felt that he no need of Danny Welbeck and would therefore be happy to sell the forward to a direct rival.

But as much as we have felt the benefit from that last minute deadline day transfer, there is an argument that the man who has benefited the most is the England manager Roy Hodgson, because Welbeck has been on fire on the international stage since his move to north London.

After eight goals from his first 26 England caps, Welbeck has bagged six goals from the last seven games. And I think that is directly due to the confidence and belief that he has gained from having the Arsenal boss show real faith in him, including giving him chances to play in his favoured centre forward role.

When you consider how little trust was put in Welbeck at Old Trafford over the years, it has been like a weight lifted off his shoulders joining the Gunners. There is more to it as well though, as Welbeck contributes a lot more than goals and his game is really coming along with all the one touch and fluent football he has been doing with Arsenal since joining.

I think there is a lot more to come from young Danny as well, for England and Arsenal, and his £16 million transfer looks like a brilliant piece of business for Wenger and the player. Do you think van Gaal is still convinced he did the right thing?
